UNI Communicators' Forum

UNI Communicators are union staff members (web people, press officers, journalists, organisers and campaign officers) who meet every year to share knowledge and experience on using communications to strengthen our organisations.

SEIU Local 615, representing 5,000 workers in Higher Education in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, is soon to enter contract negotiations for over 500 service personnel at the Massachusetts Insitute of Technology (MIT).  There is a deep endowment crisis at MIT as there is at Harvard and other ivy league schools due to investments in toxic assets similar to the crisis in US Banks.  These negotiations have broad implications for how wages and benefits will be realligned across institutions in Massachusetts.

• A small but growing number of trade unionists use Twitteri, though few are intensive users.
• Only a tiny number use Twitter for trade union purposes.
• Re-tweeting, the Twitter equivalent of forwardig an email, is not widely used.
• Of all the other social networks, only Facebooki is widely used and giant sites like MySpacei and Bebo are off union members's radar.
• Unions that do use Twitter are probably not very good at communicating this fact to members, as most did not know if their unions used Twitter.

I need a free software to edit video. wat i want is a software which could allow me to:

- put end to end many short video i've done with my mobile phone

- to reduce time of videos or choose some sequences on videos.

Union Newswire is a new site from the TUC. It's very much in betai (meaning it's likely to fall over at a moment's notice), but could be an interesting model for other union groups to look at.

I get a video 3gp. on my mobile phone. I want to download it on my PC. I need a software to read it on my PC.
